Where our review scores come from

Whose reviews we show, how they are collected, and why you will not find a Book The Bed star rating on this site.

Whose reviews these are

The guest score and the review text on a hotel page belong to the property, not to us. They are aggregated guest reviews supplied through our travel-technology partner and collected from travellers who stayed at that property.

We display them as received. We do not write them, commission them, buy them, edit them, translate them selectively or reorder them to flatter a property.

What we cannot claim, and will not

Because we do not collect these reviews ourselves, we cannot verify each reviewer stayed. We are not going to put a “verified reviews” badge on a page to imply an assurance we are not in a position to give. What we can tell you is exactly where the data comes from, which is this page.

When Book The Bed collects reviews directly — from customers who booked through this site — that will be stated on the page, the invitation will go to every eligible customer rather than a selected few, and no incentive will be attached to leaving a positive one. Until then, no such reviews exist and none are displayed.

An absent score is shown as absent

A hotel with no supplied review score is displayed without one. It is not shown as “0.0” and it is not filled in with a category average or a guess. A zero reads as a terrible property; an absence means nobody has reviewed it yet, and those are entirely different things for a traveller to know.

For the same reason, the minimum-rating filter excludes only properties whose score is actually below your threshold — it does not quietly remove the unrated ones. How that interacts with ordering is covered in how we rank hotels.

If a review looks wrong

If you believe a review or score on a property page is fake, misattributed or out of date, tell us at bookings@bookthebed.com. We cannot edit a supplier's review corpus, but we can raise it with them and we can stop displaying a score we have reason to doubt.
